The following messages were received from the President of the United States, by Mr. Glossbrenner, his secretary: To the Senate of the United States:

  • George A. Bigelow to be a lieutenant in the Navy, from the 19th of December, 1860, vice Lieutenant George E. Law, resigned.
  • Robert F. Bradford to be a lieutenant in the Navy, from the 22d of December, 1860, vice Lieutenant William G. Dozier, resigned.
  • Robert L. Phythian to be a lieutenant in the Navy, from the 25th December, 1860, vice Lieutenant Alexander F. Warley, resigned.
  • Augustus P. Cooke to be a lieutenant in the Navy, from the 28th of December, 1860, vice Lieutenant Robert Selden, resigned.
