General Stephenson planned our march so that we should pass through that terrible ten miles of hemp at night, thus avoiding the heat.<a href=\"file:\/\/\/C:\/Users\/Mikes\/Documents\/Civil War documents from plain text\/#_ftn1_8096\" name=\"_ftnref1_8096\"><sup>[1]<\/sup><\/a> Our brigade led in the march all the way. The day is very hot and sultry.
