\n<\/em>Half inviting, half repulsing,
\n            <\/span><\/em>Now advancing, and now shy,
\n<\/em>There is mischief in her dimple,
\n            <\/span><\/em>There is danger in her eye.
\nShe has studied human nature,
\n            <\/span><\/em>She is schooled in all her arts,
\n<\/em>She has taken her diploma
\n            <\/span><\/em>And the mistress of all hearts
\n<\/em>She can tell the very moment
\n            <\/span><\/em>When to sigh and when to smile;
\n<\/em>Oh! a maid is sometimes charming,
\n            <\/span><\/em>But a widow all the while.
\nYou are sad?  how very serious
\n            <\/span><\/em>Will her handsome face become;
\n<\/em>Are you angry?  she is wretched,

\nYe old bachelors of forty
