H. has bought me a nice pony, and cantering along the shore of the lake in the sunset is a panacea for mental worry.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Note: To protect Mrs. Miller\u2019s job as a teacher in post-civil war New Orleans, her diary was published anonymously, edited by G. W. Cable, names were changed and initials were generally used instead of full names<em>\u2014<\/em>and even the initials differed from the real person\u2019s initials.
