The bodies were received in the city by a military escort under Governor Andrew and Adjutant General Schouler, accompanied by a large concourse of citizens, and were temporarily deposited in the vaults of King&#8217;s Chapel. The names of these first martyrs&#8217; were Luther C. Ladd, Addison O. Whitney, Charles A. Taylor and Sumner H. Needham.
