C. <span style=\"font-variant: small-caps;\">Falkner<\/span>,<br \/>\n<em>Commanding First Regiment Mississippi Partisans:<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-variant: small-caps;\">Colonel<\/span>: Information has just been received that a column of the enemy, 600 strong, with four pieces of artillery, passed through Byhalia yesterday for Wyatt, and another of the same strength\u2014no artillery reported\u2014passed through Salem for Water Valley.<\/p>\n<p>You will move up with your regiment to prevent the latter from crossing the river, if possible, but if too late for that, you will attack him upon the flank and harass his movements as much as possible.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;..<\/span>Your obedient servant,<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\">W.
