There are 22,960 total posts.\u00a0 Of these, 1,814 have been published, 9,289 are scheduled, and 11,840 are in draft<\/p>\n
I’ve just finished scheduling War Diary of a Union Woman in the South<\/em><\/a>, which has 84 total entries. It’s by Dora Richards Miller<\/a> (image on right)\u2014 Born in St. Thomas in the Danish Virgin Islands and raised in the Frederiksted, St. Crois home of a grandmother who had freed all her late husband\u2019s slaves, Dora Richards started her diary as a single, pro-Union, 25-year-old woman in New Orleans, Louisiana.\u00a0 She also wrote A West Indian Slave Insurrection<\/a><\/em>, a narrative about her experience during the slave revolt while in St. Croix.<\/p>\n I am currently scheduling Diary of Belle Edmondson. <\/em>So far there are over 225 new entries, all from1864 and scheduled to be published in 2024.\u00a0 I may publish <\/u>selected <\/em><\/u>earlier material from a book published in 2004.<\/p>\n The book is a compilation of previously unpublished material from the 1860s.\u00a0 The copyright term for unpublished material is 70 years after the death of the author, so the individual letters and diary entries are not copyrightable.\u00a0 However, the selection and arrangement of those letters and diary entries into a compilation is protected by copyright.\u00a0 Use of selected<\/em><\/u> material from that compilation would not be an infringement of copyright and would be covered under fair use provisions<\/em> and limitation on copyright.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" March 7, 2021 American Civil War Chronicles current status: There are 22,960 total posts.\u00a0 Of these, 1,814 have been published, 9,289 are scheduled, and 11,840 are in draft I’ve just finished scheduling War Diary of a Union Woman in the South, which has 84 total entries.
