Walkout through mud to camp, and find regiment returned after seven days in fighting and suffering. Glad to see Col. Parker once more. Return weary to Pa&#8217;s, having walked nine and rode three miles.<\/p>\n<p>Sunday, July 13th\u2014In camp. Overtax my strength.<\/p>\n<p>July 14th\u2014Feeble. Visit a few wounded.<\/p>\n<p>July 15th\u2014Ride to camp and visit my sick. Daniel McDugald, my school-mate three years at Summerville and my class-mate three years at Chapel Hill, has died of wounds.<\/p>\n<p>July 16th\u2014Keep close. Suffer with cough. Married Thos. E.
